This theory presents a unified mechanistic framework for consciousness, proposing the brain's core algorithm is a cognitive difference engine. This engine, our specific instantiation of the Predictive Coding framework, operates within the cognitive architecture of Global Workspace Theory, accessing a knowledge base built on the principles of Connectionism and Hyperdimensional Computing. It is physically realized by the dynamics of neural oscillations and computed via Phase-Amplitude Coupling, with its error-correcting cycle guided by Reinforcement Learning to drive Spike-Timing-Dependent Plasticity. By providing a detailed, mechanistic account of this full cognitive cycle, this framework offers a direct, physicalist solution to the Hard Problem of Consciousness that addresses both the fundamental nature and very existence of subjective experience (qualia), while also accounting for the recursive interplay of thought, perception, action, learning, and the system-wide influence of emotion within a single, testable model.
