The importance of tolerance as a glue for harmonious coexistence in the lives and social interactions of elementary school students.However,some studentsattitudesstillshow a low level of respect andlisteningtotheopinionsof friendswhoarediscussingand playing aloneduringthelearningprocess.This phenomenonrequirestheinstillation of tolerance character values to be necessityin every school.The purpose of describing the role of teachers in instilling tolerance character values in students through active learning with guided inquiry methodsincivics learningThe approach used is qualitative research with a phenomenological typeThe object of this research was carried out at Gelam 1 Candi Elementary School,Sidoarjo Regency with one subject,a grade IV teacherThe data collection methods used were interviews,observations,and documentation.Furthermore,it was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, namely data collection,condensation, data presentation,and conclusions.The results of the study showed that the role of teachers in instilling tolerance character values in students through active learning with guided inquiry methods in civics learning in elementary schools acts as a learning resource,motivator,class manager,andevaluator.
