Context and relevance. Revival of traditional family values and strengthening of the family are in widely discussed nowadays. The family lays the foundation of an individuals life, the family is the backbone of the entire state. In this regard, it seems relevant and important to turn to the artistic specificity of the family topic in the Early Russian literature, in particular, in Domostroy, a set of moral rules and instructions on family life. Objective. To analyze the artistic features of the family discourse in Domostroy. Hypothesis. The analysis of the artistic specificity of family discourse in Domostroy will be instrumental in understanding axiological guidelines of the Early Russian writer in the context of relations between spouses, between parents and children. Methods and materials. The following methods were used in the analysis: definitional method for determining the semantics of linguistic units of the family discourse in Domostroy; the method of contextual analysis for analyzing the lexical environment in which the linguistic units under consideration are located; the method of descriptive poetics for the analysis of the artistic originality of the family discourse in Domostroy; the hermeneutic-interpretative method for interpreting the text and artistic features. The study was conducted on the material of Domostroy. Results. The results showed that the artistic originality of the family discourse in Domostroy is caused by the principles of Christian symbolism and idealization, the antithesis of virtue and sin, the system of pictorial motifs, epithets, metaphors and symbols. Conclusions. The results showed that the artistic specificity of family discourse in Domostroy is conditioned by the axiological guidelines of the medieval writer and his religious worldview.
