Polycyclic Arenes The cover illustrates the stepwise construction of a geodesic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with a complex architecture. A combination of the Scholl reaction and alumina-mediated cyclodehydrofluorination enables selective formation of hexagons and pentagons, respectively, providing an efficient strategy for assembling the largest molecular fragment of the C70 fullerene.
