An Analysis of Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatic Functions, and Cognitive Mechanisms of the Sentence Structure of ‘you+VP/AP+guo’

The sentence structure of ‘you+VP/AP+guo’ has emerged extensively in recent years. This article mainly analyzes it from the perspectives of syntactic expression, semantic features, pragmatic functions, and cognitive mechanisms. Firstly, the word ‘you’ in the sentence structure is undergoing grammaticalization and serves as a focal marker. There are 376 VP and 60 AP used for this sentence structure, respectively, which are rich in expression. The semantic features of this sentence structure are manifested as +static +strong static. This sentence structure uses the word ‘you’ to highlight and emphasize the subsequent focal element, transforming ‘VP/AP+guo’ from dynamic to static, which is a general affirmation of ‘experience’. Secondly, in terms of displacement types in displacement events, ‘you+VP+guo’ sentence is a clear zero displacement, while ‘you+AP+guo’ sentence is an abstract and fictional zero displacement. This sentence structure elongates and extends the viewpoint until it reaches infinity, and the motion attribute disappears completely, becoming a static, simple representation of some abstract relationship. In terms of cognitive mechanism, it belongs to the ‘in’ style summary scanning of projectile stillness.
