Purpose In today's turbulent supply chain environment, ensuring delivery performance is paramount for manufacturing firms. This study aims to investigate the pivotal role of logistics resilience in enhancing delivery performance. It proposes a mechanism that explains the strategic significance of third-party logistics (3PL) integration in improving customer delivery performance through logistics resilience. Design/methodology/approach Using survey data collected from 219 manufacturing firms in China, this study employs a structural equation model and bootstrap techniques to test the proposed hypotheses. Findings The findings emphasize the following points: (1) the benefits of logistics resilience significantly contribute to improving delivery performance; (2) 3PL digital connectivity enhances logistics integration, particularly in terms of information sharing and process coordination with the 3PL providers; (3) information sharing with the 3PL providers doesn't directly impact logistics resilience but does so indirectly by fostering process coordination with these providers. Originality/value This study enriches the existing body of knowledge on logistics resilience and offers valuable practical insights into the mechanisms that enable manufacturing firms to enhance delivery performance through improved logistics resilience.
