Burundi is a small landlocked country in East Africa where refugees and asylum seekers have been a significant social issue for decades. The analysis will draw on existing legal documents, case studies, and interviews with relevant stakeholders to provide an in-depth understanding of the legal landscape surrounding refugee claims in Burundi. The legal system in Burundi struggles to balance humanitarian concerns with administrative constraints, leading to delays and inconsistencies in the processing of refugee claims. To improve the situation, there is a need for clearer guidelines on asylum procedures, enhanced cooperation with international organizations, and increased public awareness about refugees' rights.
