Land reform in East Africa has been a contentious issue, with varying impacts on socio-economic stability and local communities. An action research study was conducted involving consultations with farmers, government officials, and community leaders to assess the impact of recent land reform policies on agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods. A notable trend identified was a 30% increase in smallholder farming incomes following policy changes that encouraged land redistribution and supported technological investments. The study underscores the importance of tailored support mechanisms to maximise benefits from land reforms, particularly for marginalized farmer groups. Communities should be actively engaged in decision-making processes related to land use, while government policies must address infrastructure needs to sustain agricultural advancements.
