Youth in Moroccan urban environments face a complex interplay of socio-economic challenges and opportunities that influence their identity formation and political engagement. A systematic review of existing literature on youth identity and political engagement in Africa, with an emphasis on qualitative analysis to explore nuanced perspectives within Moroccan urban settings. This theoretical framework highlights the importance of understanding how youth identity narratives can be leveraged to promote more inclusive urban politics in Morocco and beyond. Policy makers should consider fostering community-based initiatives that address youth-specific needs, such as education and job training programmes, which could enhance their sense of belonging and political agency.
