Upcycling silicon from End-of-Life photovoltaic panels to a heterogeneous catalyst for the Mizoroki–Heck cross-coupling
Key Points
The aim is to develop a method for using silicon from end-of-life solar panels as a catalyst support in chemical reactions.
Propose a waste-to-wealth approach for silicon from EoL photovoltaic panels
Develop Pd nanoparticle-based catalytic systems using reclaimed silicon
Evaluate the catalytic efficiency of the newly developed system
Silicon effectively supports Pd nanoparticles
Demonstrated successful performance in Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions
Supports the idea of a circular economy in managing solar panel waste
Abstract
Herein, we propose a circularly driven waste-to-wealth strategy for the globally growing EoL solar panel waste streams, proposing Si as a heterogeneous support for Pd nanoparticle-based catalytic systems.
