This study investigates English-major students’ impressions of utilizing ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence language model, to learn English at Nam Can Tho University in Vietnam. ChatGPT has the potential to provide benefits such as tailored language practice and quick feedback, but its use in language education situations is still underexplored. This study uses a questionnaire provided to 60 participants to explore students’ views, preferences, and experiences with ChatGPT. The study looks at students’ perceptions of ChatGPT’s usefulness, adaptability, and perceived benefits for improving English language abilities. The findings reflect varying viewpoints on ChatGPT’s usability, fit for diverse learning needs, and engagement with traditional learning approaches. The study provides insights into the integration of AI technology in language education, with implications for educational methods and recommendations for further research.
