Abstract

By 2021, Amazon’s US fulfillment network faced significant challenges in performance metrics because of the unprecedented network growth. Amazon solved this through a network transformation (dubbed regionalization) based on partitioning the network into eight largely self-sufficient regions. This paper describes the research, implementation, and impact of this transformation.
