This paper explores cultural norms and values as drivers or restraints to innovation collaboration through a metasummary approach with a Lewin’s force field analysis. Literature identifies many drivers and restraints to innovation collaboration tied in culture. Culture’s role in a region is explored through a multi-industry survey. The survey finds that low innovation activity region values trust-based collaborations with familiar and committed partners mostly in internal or dyadic external relationships. Lack of literature and small survey sample are the main limitations in the study.
