Rapid and complex changes and the expansion of uncertainty are defining characteristics of modern society. The reflection on the competencies required of now has led to the demand for global citizenship. This study is based on an extensive literature review on education for fostering global citizenship, which emphasizes inclusive values in response to social changes. Initially, the study organizes the demands and current status of global citizenship education as discussed in previous research. It then examines recent research trends by UNESCO, OECD, and educational researchers who address global citizenship as values and attitudes. The study explores practical approaches to global citizenship education, suggesting methods beyond curricular, such as cross-curricular values and strategies, improving teaching, learning, and assessment cultures, and experiencing diversity and universality through classroom culture. This research is significant in that it seeks both theoretical and practical discussions for fostering global citizenship. However, it also acknowledges a limitation in not conducting specific implementation studies due to its comprehensive curricular approach. Based on these findings, the study proposes the need for concrete implementation research that can contribute to the creation of an educational culture fostering global citizenship.
