General Ontology

This paper presents a philosophical interpretation of the Cohesion unified field theory(Gilbert 2025–2026). It does not extend the Cohesion UFT’s physical claims or add newfalsifiable predictions. Instead it asks what the Cohesion UFT’s operators — Surplus,Collapse, Continuance, Affinity, and the pressure axiom — mean as a description of existence,and whether the structural patterns they identify in physical systems recur analogically incognition, narrative, and culture.The central philosophical proposition is that the Cohesion UFT’s single foundationalaxiom — the universe is under pressure from the next higher scale — is not merely a physicalprinciple but an ontological one: it describes the condition under which any organised system,at any scale, persists or dissolves. Motion and scale invariance are not independent axiomsbut necessary theorems that follow from pressure alone.Version 2 adds one philosophical addition: the funneled spring as the 3D geometric formof the spiral, and the golden angle as the attractor toward which every funneled spring tendsin the infinite-time limit. This is not a new physical claim — the derivation is establishedin the physics series 10. The philosophical addition is this: the fine-structure constant,the most precisely measured and least understood number in physics, is the golden anglediscounted by the coherence time of the electromagnetic vacuum. Every organised systemthat persists under pressure is tending toward the same attractor. Physics reaches it in thecontinuous limit. From this axiom followintrinsic motion, scale invariance, intrinsic rotation, surplus flow, collapse, and recursivestructure formation.These are physical results, grounded in mathematics and validated empirically. But theyalso constitute a description of existence at a level general enough to invite philosophicalinterpretation. A framework in which motion is intrinsic, scale is invariant, and structureemerges from pressure gradients says something not only about galaxies and orbital systemsbut about the nature of persistence, change, and organisation as such.This paper develops that interpretation.
