Abstract The study titled determination of community participation in water resource management. These data will collect by using both structured and non-structured interviews. Field observations and secondary data were used to support the truth of collected data using questionnaires. The main sampling procedures were used to obtain two representatives wards. At ward level, 100 respondents each from different households were picked at random for the study. The main problem which faces the community participation in rural areas is personal commitment the respondents revealed that personal commitment often imposes a responsibility of individuals to do certain things even though they were not involved in the water resources management. In the study area the respondents also revealed that community members have not been involved in a water resource management, they are not equipped to fully understand the nature and rationale of the commitments they are being asked to make in water resource management. The implication of this is that the success of water resource management would largely depend on providing solutions to problems that limit the participation of the people. Without strong commitment from higher level decision makers, grass roots level behavioral changes will eventually lose momentum.
