This design case highlights the decisions made while developing a graduate-level instructional technology course focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in P-12 education. P12 education has seen GenAI tools customized and advertised directly to teachers. However, the adoption rate and methods are disparate. This course was designed to support in-service teachers in navigating this evolving landscape. This case showcases the development of modules, assignments, and assessments and how they evolved in response to emerging insights, pedagogical goals, and constraints. ChatGPT was used throughout the design process to generate instructional materials and feedback, offering a unique perspective into designing a course with GenAI tools.
