Abstract

The case of a 14-year-old girl with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) treated surgically by open reduction with a subtrochanteric femoral osteotomy with 5 cm shortening and transiliac Dega osteotomy for a neglected dislocation of the right hip joint is described. In the second stage, a subtrochanteric osteotomy of the contralateral femur with a similar shortening was performed to compensate for the lower-limb discrepancy. The patient led a normal life after the operation by walking independently, working as a teacher, and giving birth to 2 children. After 25 years, at the age of 39, she underwent a total hip arthroplasty (THA) of the right hip.
