Transition metal dichalcogenides can be prepared as atomically thin monolayers with unique optical and electronic properties that open up numerous (opto-)electronic applications. In this thesis, we performed time-resolved laser spectroscopy techniques to unravel the underlying physical processes, namely the thermalization, cooling and recombination as well as separation of charge carriers, plus coherent motions of the crystal lattice.
