The NCCES brief required a programme of archaeological trial trenching mitigatory to sample the site ahead of the construction of 21 new buildings. This was achieved by excavating 12 30.00m x 1.80m trenches. The site had moderate to high potential for features and finds relating to the Medieval and post-medieval periods. The potential for features and finds from all other periods was low. Despite the potential for features dating to the medieval and post-medieval periods only three features were located dating these periods within trenches 3, 8 and 11. It is likely that the ditches within trenches 3 and 8 are the same feature and correspond with a boundary ditch present on the 1836 Tithe map, present until the 1893 6" OS map. Later, a land drain was installed to replace the ditch. The ditch within trench 11 likely also represents a minor boundary ditch or internal division of the site.
