Cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) converts CO 2 to methanol when immobilized on carbon nanotubes. Multiscale simulations show how nanotube supports shield CoPc from water, lowering the protonation barrier for adsorbed CO without affecting desorption. This enables methanol formation and highlights support engineering as crucial for tuning electrocatalytic pathways in heterogenized molecular catalysts.
