For recording of the talk, see NFDI YouTube channel The KonsortSWD "Harmonized Variables" service aims to make survey data more comparable across datasets by standardizing variables, especially sociodemographic ones. This involves using standardized questionnaire items, i.e. input harmonisation, and developing uniform variables across different survey datasets, i.e. output harmonisation, to improve the consistency and content-wise interoperability of the data. This talk presents the approach of sociodemographic standard variables for individual level research data, illustrated using two examples, citizenship and marital status. It also gives an outlook on activities planned for the 2nd funding phase of KonsortSWD.
