Dostoevsky and Artificial Intelligence The paper explores how Dostoevsky’s literary legacy can shed light on one aspect of generative artificial intelligence – the ability of large language models to produce seemingly original artistic texts in the style of various authors. As a commentary on this contemporary transhumanist phenomenon, the discussion draws on Dostoevsky’s understanding of the role of literary art in transcending the fragmented and evolving human subjectivity, showing that this crucial dimension of artistic creation remains inaccessible to generative AI because of its technical nature.
