Abstract Background and aims Effective management of IBD hinges not only on medical interventions but also on patientś acceptance of their diagnosis, trust in healthcare providers, and compliance with prescribed treatment regimens. These critical factors might be influenced by ethnicity, migration status and cultural backgrounds, which shape patients’ perceptions, attitudes, and behaviours towards their illness and healthcare. Aim 1: Focus groups will study perceptions of IBD and barriers to care among culturally diverse groups. Aim 2: Using a validated patient survey, this study will measure trust in healthcare professionals (HCPs), adherence to medication, and preventive care among IBD patients from different cultural backgrounds. Methods Focus groups and qualitative survey. Our study endpoint is to get an overview of the different perspectives and opinions on IBD management in patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Common themes and perspectives will be compared amongst across the different groups. Anticipated impact This research is innovative in its comprehensive approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the impacts of cultural diversity on IBD care. This project seeks to reduce healthcare disparities by understanding and addressing how cultural differences might play a role in acceptance, trust, and compliance in IBD care. By promoting equitable healthcare for culturally diverse populations, it contributes to creating a fairer society.
