Logistics network design is the core component of supply chain systems structuring howresources, goods and information flow among interconnected actors within supply chain.While supply chain exploration often prioritizes upstream sourcing configurations andoperational integration, the logistics networks structures receive little attention. Thispaper develops a conceptual understanding about the role of logistics network design inshaping supply chain performance, responsiveness, and stability. By emphasizingfacility location, transport network links and network configuration, the paper suggeststhat logistics network design should be acknowledged as a strategic cornerstone ofeffective supply chain management.
