ABSTRACT The untreated water from textile industries is consequently causing severe health problems and a lack of potable water in different parts of the world. The research focuses on synthesizing MIL‐101(Fe)@MnFe 2 O 4 using para‐substituted terephthalic acid and FeCl 3 .H 2 O via N‐N‐dimethylformamide as a solvent. Characterization of the synthesized MOF was performed by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), followed by batch adsorption analysis for the removal of methylene blue from wastewater using UV spectroscopy. The novel MIL‐101(Fe)@MnFe 2 O 4 composite removed 98.6% of methylene blue in DI water and 61% in simulated textile wastewater conditions after 40 min at a dye concentration of 20 ppm. To the best of our knowledge, the MIL‐101(Fe)@MnFe 2 O 4 composite has not yet been synthesized or explored for the removal of methylene blue from wastewater. This study analyzed how the initial concentration of the dye, the amount of adsorbent used impact the adsorption process, indicating its potential application in water purification processes. This study accentuates the efficiency of the fabricated novel MIL‐101(Fe)@MnFe 2 O as a versatile adsorbent for eliminating methylene blue from wastewater.
