Ni(II) norcorroles have garnered significant attention due to their distinct antiaromaticity and stability. However, their conventional synthetic protocol requires the use of unstable Ni(0) complexes, resulting in cumbersome procedures and a limited substrate scope. Herein, we disclose an efficient method for the synthesis of Ni(II) norcorroles using manganese powder. This improved protocol affords Ni(II) norcorroles with heteroaryl and halogenated aryl substituents at the meso positions with a simplified isolation procedure.
