For decades, futures scholars have warned that Post-Normal Times would arrive—an era where uncertainty, rapid change, and systemic complexity would overwhelm traditional prediction. Sardar described it. Miller developed Futures Literacy to navigate it. Ramos and colleagues built frameworks for Triple-A Governance to respond to it. This paper argues that Post-Normal Times have arrived, and offers a field report from someone working at the intersection of AI and organizational transformation. The specific trigger is what I call the verification cost reversal. For most of human history, producing plausible falsehoods was cheap while verification was expensive—creating demand for authority-based knowledge structures. Now verification is cheap, maintaining deception is expensive, and credibility loss is irreversible. Combined with the automation of cognitive routine labor, this reversal is displacing authority structures and knowledge work at unprecedented speed. In Post-Normal Times terminology, this is a Black Jellyfish: a known threat whose cascading, systemic effects are underestimated while attention focuses elsewhere. Much of futures discourse remains fixated on the Black Swan of artificial general intelligence—scanning distant horizons— while Black Jellyfish drift through familiar waters. The transformation is not approaching. It has arrived. This paper synthesizes insights from Bell's foundational vision, Sardar's Post-Normal Times framework, Miller's Futures Literacy, and Ramos's anticipatory governance work to understand what is happening and what it demands. The answer aligns with what these scholars have long advocated: continuous updating, adaptive capacity, and design rather than prediction. The future is not awaited—it is designed through iterative engagement with changing conditions. It is time to stop scanning the horizon and start addressing what is already in the water.
