We review the history of the conference series Traffic and Granular Flow which took place in Lyon for the fifteenth time. The authors want to share their experiences and memories from the point-of-view of one of the original founders (Michael Schreckenberg) and the only person who partipated in all meetings (Andreas Schadschneider). The origins and concept of the conference are discussed in historical context. Varying research trends are identified based on a statistical analysis of the proceedings contributions.
Schadschneider et al. (Fri,) studied this question.
