With the development of information technology, the limitations of traditional university general courses have become evident, such as low student engagement. However, the immersive and interactive advantages of VR technology offer a promising solution to these challenges. This study intends to first review the current teaching situation and problems of university public courses, then deeply analyze the advantages and potential of applying VR technology to public courses. After that, combined with teaching objectives and content, it will explore specific strategies for integrating VR technology into public courses to stimulate students’ interest. Research demonstrates that VR technology can enhance student engagement and interest in general courses, improve knowledge retention, and cater to individual learning needs through personalized interactive scenarios. However, challenges such as high costs, poor adaptability, and insufficient teacher training hinder its widespread application, requiring collaborative efforts from multiple stakeholders.
