ABSTRACT The switching event‐triggered (ET) adaptive control problem is considered in this article for uncertain nonlinear systems with multiple time‐varying delays. Different from many existing results, the nonlinear terms of the studied system satisfy a more general growth condition. Firstly, a dynamic‐gain observer is constructed to estimate the unmeasurable states. Meanwhile, a novel dynamic gain is introduced to address system uncertainties. Then, a new ET controller is proposed together with a switching threshold rule, in which the threshold parameter can be adjusted dynamically. To cope with multiple time‐varying delays, an improved Lyapunov–Krasovskii (LK) functional is employed with the dynamic gain. The designed control algorithm can regulate all states of the closed‐loop system (CLS), and Zeno behavior is effectively prevented. Finally, simulation studies verify the effectiveness of the theoretical result.
