AbstractThe paper throws light on the collection of the Dyal Singh College library in Karnal, Haryana. Data for the study were collected via a well-structured Google Form questionnaire that was administered to the students. The investigator personally shares the Google form with the students to take the response through the Google form questionnaire. This paper examines the usefulness of collection development in a college library. Various points must be taken into consideration while developing a qualitative collection for the benefit of the library users. These points include frequency of library visits, time spent, purpose, frequency of use of library resources, rating of information sources and problems faced by library users associated with library collection development. The analysis of the college library collection has been made in this paper, which makes constructive suggestions for the overall development of the collection as well as the services of the library for the satisfaction of the readers. To maintain the quality of the library, the librarian must be careful to develop the collection. The study will determine whether the required document is available or not to meet the user needs and examine whether the periodicals and other publications are on time at the library.
