This article presents the results of developing a set of measures aimed at improving the operational sustainability of the Ukhta solid waste landfill, taking into account modern environmental and fire safety requirements. A comprehensive analysis of key aspects of the landfill's operations is conducted. The need for an integrated approach and the implementation of modern solutions to ensure the sustainable operation of the facility is substantiated. The paper provides a detailed analysis of the factors determining the landfill's operational stability. It is revealed that the Ukhta solid waste landfill currently does not meet current environmental and fire safety requirements. A set of measures is proposed to address the identified deficiencies and improve the landfill's operational sustainability. These solutions are focused on improving environmental safety systems and bringing the facility into compliance with modern regulations. A quantitative and qualitative risk assessment is conducted following the implementation of the proposed measures. A calculation of the economic and environmental effectiveness of the implemented solutions is performed, confirming their feasibility. Proper landfill design will improve its sustainability and reduce the negative impact on the environment and human health. This study examines ways to improve the sustainability of municipal solid waste landfills, as landfills are now a significant and integral part of the industry. The study included a study of environmental risks at the existing municipal solid waste landfill and a comparison with the theoretical risks for a new one. It is expected that the results obtained in this study will differ significantly. Overall, the study demonstrates that the development and implementation of proposed measures to improve environmental safety systems will enhance the sustainability of the Ukhta municipal solid waste landfill.
