This exploratory UX research study investigates early learning abandonment behavior in digital learning platforms. Despite strong learner intent, many users disengage within moments of opening learning applications. This research examines the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors contributing to this phenomenon, including cognitive overload, perceived effort, emotional resistance, and perfection-oriented learning expectations. Using reflective behavioral observation and synthesis of established cognitive and motivation research, the study identifies systemic mismatches between real-world learning contexts and platform design assumptions. The research proposes behavior-informed strategic recommendations that support accessible and sustainable learning engagement, particularly for self-directed learners. This study is intended to generate hypothesis-driven insight and support future empirical research into human-centered learning experience design.
