Flow pulsations of the axial piston motor which is a key component of hydraulic systems can cause pressure fluctuations and increase noise, thereby affecting the system’s efficiency and stability. Existing flow sensors have a limited frequency range, which is inadequate for directly measuring multi-piston flow pulsations. Moreover, the flow pulsations of the motor are influenced by the flow pulsations from the driving pump. To address these issues, an improved model based on a dual-pressure/dual-system method is proposed for the indirect measurement of flow pulsations in the axial piston motor. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method for indirectly measuring the inlet flow pulsations achieves high accuracy, with the correction scheme successfully extracting the internal source flow pulsations of the motor. Under various rotational speeds and working pressure conditions, simulation results show that the inlet flow pulsation rate is 19.38%. The test results show that the inlet flow pulsation rate is 18.74%, and the corresponding corrected ratio is 19.71% which align closely with the simulation results. The experimental findings fully validate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method, providing theoretical support and experimental guidance for the structural optimization of low-noise motors.
