This research aimed to dig into the potential molecular mechanisms and the metabolite accumulate patterns in the rhizome development of Drynaria roosii Nakaike. The hormone dynamic changes of D. roosii displayed different rising or falling patterns in three samples. Illumina next-generation sequencing technology was adopted to investigate the genes in D. roosii rhizome transcriptome in the 3 developmental stages. FPKM analysis and the metabolomics analysis were used to reflect the marked changes of genes and the crucial metabolites with specific alterations in the 3 developmental stages, respectively. A potential model of dynamic transcriptomic changes and metabolites was generated in this study, suggesting there might be a core regulatory network in D. Rossii rhizome, and also implying its prospective application values.
