Indonesia's marine and fisheries resources, especially in the territorial waters of Ternate Island, Ternate City, North Maluku, are one of the essential strategic assets that need to be developed both from an ecological, economic, social and technological perspective for the prosperity and welfare of the people in the coastal areas of Ternate Island. This study examines the development status of small-scale fisheries on Ternate Island, especially tuna fisheries, based on ecological, economic, social and technological aspects through an assessment of the management index. The data collection method was done through a survey and interview process using purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out through a process of weighting and scoring of attribute values in each dimension of sustainability, in which attributes that have an influence (positive and negative) on tuna fisheries management activities are assumed to be factors that serve as indicators in the sustainability of tuna fisheries management on Ternate Island. The results showed that the sustainability of small-scale tuna fisheries on Ternate Island in terms of the combined sustainable fisheries index (ICSD) from 2016 to 2021 shows a less sustainable status, especially from 2019 to 2021. The social and economic dimensions have a sustainable index value, while the ecological and technological dimensions have opposite values.
