ABSTRACT Metal tellurides are promising candidates for electromagnetic protection applications. However, it remains challenging to synthesize metal tellurides with favorable compositions, morphologies, and microstructures for impedance matching and electromagnetic attenuation. Herein, we report the transformation synthesis of 1D hollow nonmagnetic and magnetic metal tellurides (Bi 2 Te 3 and CoTe) through a template‐engaged strategy involving the nanoscale Kirkendall effect for electromagnetic wave absorption. The results show that both the metal tellurides derived from pre‐synthesized Te nanorod templates enable strong and broadband absorption across multiple bands in the tested frequency range of 1–43.5 GHz when dispersed individually in a paraffin wax matrix. The optimized nonmagnetic and magnetic composites can achieve the minimum reflection losses of −46.45 and −65.19 dB, respectively, as well as the maximum effective absorption bandwidths of 6.18 and 7.79 GHz. The superior performance of the magnetic composite can be attributed to the well‐matched wave impedance, structural attenuation, and magnetic‐electric synergistic loss of the 3D electromagnetic response network consisting of the countless 1D magnetic CoTe absorption units. This work demonstrates metal tellurides as high‐performance absorbers and promotes the exploration and design of advanced electromagnetic materials.
