Using the Monte Carlo simulation, we propose a mixed-spin (1/2, 1, 3/2) Ising model to study the compensation temperatures and hysteresis loops of the magnetic ternary cylindrical nanowire with core–shell structure. Thermal behaviors of the magnetization, susceptibility, internal energy and specific heat are examined. A great number of interesting phenomena have been found, such as three compensation temperatures and multiple hysteresis loops, depending on the competition among various Hamiltonian parameters. The coercivity and remanence of the whole system and sublattices are discussed in detail. Results are compared with some experimental and theoretical studies, and a quantitatively good agreement can be obtained.
