Synthesis of SpiroIndane-1,3-Dione-2-Pyrrolidines by the Reaction of 2-(2′-Ketoalkyl)-1,3-Indandiones with Triazinanes

A straightforward and transition metal-free approach for the synthesis of highly functionalized spiroindane-1,3-dione-2-pyrrolidines has been demonstrated. The reaction of 2-(2'-ketoalkyl)-1,3-indandiones with triazinanes proceeds efficiently to afford a wide range of spirocyclic products in good to excellent yields. The versatility of the method was further demonstrated by the successful incorporation of various drug molecules and chiral amines, highlighting its potential for application in medicinal and synthetic organic chemistry.
