This preprint introduces the Theory of Material Persistence and Transformation (TMPT), a conceptual framework integrating established scientific principles—such as conservation of matter and biogeochemical cycling—with philosophical reflection on birth, death, and continuity of existence. The framework reframes death as the disintegration of biological structure followed by redistribution of material constituents, and reframes birth as the reorganization of pre-existing matter into new biological forms. TMPT does not propose new physical laws or empirical hypotheses but offers a coherent interpretive model grounded in contemporary physics, chemistry, and ecology. References to “rebirth” are strictly material and non-metaphysical, with no claims regarding continuity of consciousness, memory, or personal identity. This work is presented as an open conceptual synthesis and invites interdisciplinary critique and scholarly discussion.
