The deliverable D2.2 corresponds to the main outcome of task 2.2, titled “Ecodesign guidelines”. These guidelines present the best practices for materials, energy and emissions for ecodesign of the SSB cell and battery module technology, including market applications. Within the scope of the ADVAGEN project, the guidelines consider the entire life cycle of the SSB. The main goal is to provide impactful measures to prevent and mitigate the environmental impacts of SSBs and to extend the useful lifetime of SSBs and their critical raw materials. These measures are to be taken into consideration by the consortium during the development of the ADVAGEN SSB technology, specifically for the cell components and materials that affect the manufacturing process and assembly, use phase and end-of-life treatment. Firstly, a comprehensive review of the current literature on SSB environmental performance was conducted, including also cost reduction measures. The review included current and upcoming policies for lithium-ion batteries, as well as future regulation requirements. Based on the literature review and the regulatory trends, a set of ecodesign parameters that can apply to SSBs was selected. Then, ADVAGEN expert insights were presented, providing recommendations to overcome the technical and market challenges for improving the identified parameters in the SSB design. The gathered recommendations were then transformed into specific life cycle ecodesign guidelines for SSBs.
