Purpose Organizational resilience is important for organizations to address risks, which can assist prefabricated building project organizations in coping with adversity. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the organizational resilience of prefabricated building projects during the construction phase. Design/methodology/approach Firstly, this study constructs the prefabricated building project organizational resilience evaluation index system through a literature review and vague set theory. Then, the combined weights of organizational resilience evaluation indicators are determined using the G1-CRITIC method and the organizational resilience evaluation model is further constructed based on the cloud model. Finally, the Dengkefu (DKF) project is selected as a case for the application of the organizational resilience evaluation model. The analysis is conducted based on the organizational resilience evaluation results for this project, and the research implications and future prospects are clarified. Findings The indicator weight calculation shows that responsive abilities have the highest weight, followed by forecasting and adaptive abilities and learning abilities have the lowest weight. According to the results of the cloud model, this project has a relatively high-level organizational resilience, the forecasting and adaptive capabilities have a high-level resilience and the responsive and learning capabilities have a relatively high-level resilience. Originality/value This study promotes the application of organizational resilience theory in the field of prefabricated construction during the construction phase, clarifies the conceptual contents of organizational resilience in this domain, accomplishes the quantitative evaluation of organizational resilience and provides an indicator system and methodology framework for assessing organizational resilience in prefabricated construction.
