Early childhood caries (ECC) remains a leading chronic disease of childhood and a major public health concern. The Lift-the-Lip technique, a simple, non-invasive screening tool, has proven highly effective in early identification of white-spot lesions and initial enamel changes. This method empowers not only dentists but also parents, teachers, caregivers, and community health workers (CHWs) to recognize early signs of disease and seek timely care. Furthermore, it provides a platform for anticipatory guidance and reinforces preventive behaviors. This cross-sectional study integrates global and Indian perspectives on ECC, describes the procedure and methodology of Lift-the-Lip, presents clinical observations, and highlights its advantages in enhancing prevention protocols, influencing child behavior in dental care, and addressing gaps in awareness, particularly in Anganwadi and community settings.
