The gut microbiota acts as a modulator of various physiological processes, particularly highlighting its role in the regulation of the immune system and the inflammatory response. In young adult populations, the presence of a low-grade inflammatory state is influenced by lifestyle factors, among which the practice of physical exercise plays a relevant role. Recent scientific evidence suggests that physical exercise, both aerobic and resistance modalities, has the capacity to induce changes in the composition and diversity of the gut microbiota. Such variations may, in turn, be associated with modifications in the levels of systemic inflammatory markers. In light of this context, it is timely to conduct a scoping review aimed at identifying and synthesizing current findings on this topic. The objective of this study is to map the available scientific literature regarding the relationship between physical exercise and inflammation in young adults. This review will be conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology, grounded in the PIO framework (Population, Intervention, and Outcomes), and following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines.
