AK demonstrates marked variability in both organism distribution and host inflammatory response. Tissue damage appears to be more immune-mediated than organism load-dependent. Persistent cyst formation underlies recurrence, underscoring the importance of early diagnosis and prolonged postoperative anti-amoebic therapy.
