The purpose of this report was to understand the interior finishes and equipment specifications of child welfare facilities. The following became clear: 1) When it comes to interior finishes, selection factors included not only impact resistance, cost, and ease of maintenance, but also children’s allergies. 2) The prevalence of private toilets and washlets was revealed. Private rooms such as bathrooms were important as places where children could be alone. 3) Open and semi-open kitchens were used as places for shared cooking and conversation with children. 4) Air conditioning was difficult to manage due to individual differences in thermal environments.
