Shimane Prefecture operates a housing renovation subsidy program for childrearing and elderly households, supporting approximately 500 renovations annually. This study aims to understand the actual state of housing renovations by analyzing the content, location, and combination patterns of renovations in the subsidy program. Over 80% of the subsidy programs support renovations related to childrearing, indicating high demand. The top recommendations focus on reducing the burden of cleaning and housework and improving comfort in the bathroom. Barrier-free renovations combine the replacement of unit baths and western-style toilets with the addition of handrails and the removal of steps.
