This position paper argues that the Transformer architecture solved the problem of machine information processing but left unaddressed the problem of delivering that processing to specific biological recipients. We propose the Attunement layer — an interface architecture that extends the Transformer with four operations: identity resolution, biological gating, evidential confidence, and accountability binding. We describe the Deployed Human Intelligence (DHI) framework as a concrete implementation and position Attunement as the necessary complement to Attention for deploying AI in human-consequential contexts.
