This repository contains the authorized English translation of the article “Waarom motivatie stokt: leerlingen missen geen discipline maar steun,” originally published in Dutch on ScienceGuide (Netherlands). The article examines student motivation as a relationally embedded phenomenon shaped by school belonging, classroom climate, and pedagogical trust, drawing on recent national educational monitoring data and international meta-analytic research. It introduces the concept of Sustained Educational Engagement (SEE) as an analytical framework for understanding the continuity and recovery of student engagement across learning situations, with implications for teacher education and educational equity.
